The DEOMAR project, which stands for Development and Demonstration of Advanced Systems for Offshore Wind Power, has recently secured funding from the Community of Madrid – Vice-Presidency, Department of Education and Universities. The project received this grant through the call for proposals “Grants to Contribute to the Improvement of Public-Private Cooperation in R&D&I through Consortium Projects with a Tractor Effect.” This funding is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Commission’s ERDF Operational Program.
The DEOMAR project has a budget of 4,728,532€ and is expected to last for 3 years. The project aims to research, develop, prototype, and experimentally demonstrate new solutions for innovative subsystems, novel means, and newly conceived processes. These solutions will focus on the industrial applicability of new technologies for the generation of renewable energy, specifically in the area of floating offshore wind power.
To achieve these goals, a consortium has been formed that brings together experts in different areas covered by the project. The consortium includes Rover Maritime (coordinator), Esteyco, Inbersa, BTP, and Silbat. In addition, the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) through the
Agustín de Betancourt Foundation will provide invaluable collaboration, and the consulting firm 7experts will support the consortium’s management.
Silbat will be responsible for assessing electricity storage solutions for the floating offshore wind technologies developed within the project. In particular, Silbat will customize and plan the operation of its melting silicon storage technology to suit the project’s needs.
