During the D2XCEL session, our Senior Research Scientist, Dr. Marius Zehender, had the opportunity to present our innovative vision to a distinguished audience of investors and industry leaders.
As the transition to net-zero carbon emissions becomes increasingly critical, the role of effective energy storage is paramount, particularly given the intermittent nature of solar and wind energy. While current technologies such as lithium-ion batteries can be cost-prohibitive, and pumped hydro solutions often face geographical limitations, Silbat is pioneering a transformative battery technology based on molten silicon.
By harnessing the high latent heat of silicon, our solution not only achieves energy density but also capitalizes on the low cost of silicon. This enables renewable energy plants to operate around the clock in a cost-effective manner, addressing a significant challenge in the pursuit of sustainable energy.
