We are pleased to announce that Silbat has been awarded funding by the Spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism under the PERTE Chip call for projects to boost the microelectronics and semiconductor value chain (ICV/ME), for our project DEMOTEF.
About DEMOTEF
DEMOTEF (Development of high-efficiency thermophotovoltaic modules) will advance the thermophotovoltaic (TPV) converters that turn the heat stored in our molten-silicon batteries back into electricity. Over the course of the project we plan to:
- Develop germanium TPV cells with improved efficiency.
- Establish new packaging and assembly methods for TPV modules, based on microelectronics techniques.
- Test and validate the resulting modules under realistic operating conditions.
Collaboration
Silbat will carry out the project together with the Solar Energy Institute of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (IES-UPM) and RBZ Robot Design, combining expertise in semiconductor devices, electronics and automation.
Stay tuned for updates as the project advances.
